Hungary is rich in thermal waters: its thermal water stock is significant even on the global level, and it is unique in Europe.
Most mineral and thermal waters contain dissolved minerals too, and therefore these waters have medicinal effect, i.e. they are suitable for bathing and drinking cures. At the moment, Hungary has more than 1,000 wells producing thermal water over 30 °C, of which most of the wells produce water with medicinal effect.
Thermal waters in Hungary are present in almost every regions of the country.
Budapest is famous for the healing power of its thermal springs. It is the only metropolis in the world with more than 100 thermal springs across its territory which feed about 50 baths.

One of most popular baths for tourists coming to Budapest.
The medicinal spring here was already famed in the 13th century. The
spa is decorated with a wealth of original Art Nouveau furnishings,
artistic mosaics, stained glass windows and sculptures, although the
interior of the hotel built alongside has lost many of these fittings
over the years. |

The bath was built in 1550, and then reconstructed by Pasha Sokoli Mustafa in 1566. Some of the Turkish-period features are still used today: the octagonal pool, the four small corner pools, each with water of a different temperature, and the characteristic Turkish dome. Some days are only for men, but not gay. Rudas but is renovated in 2006 year.

To date, it retains many of the key elements of a Turkish bath, exemplified by its Turkish dome and octagonal pool. It is believed that a start was made on building the bath by Pasha of Buda Arslan in 1565.It is one of the few remaining monuments from the Turkish times, receiving the visitor in all the original magnificence of a period Ottoman palace of bathing. The Kiraly Baths are open to both sexes but not at the same time. Some but not all users are nude. When are days only for men is visited by gay clientele. Mostly coming older men, only Saturday coming also young men, mostly gay tourists.

One of the largest bathing complexes in Europe, the premier medicinal bath of Pest- Its thermal springs were discovered in 1879; they are the deepest and hottest ( 74 - 75 C. ) thermal wells in the capital. The neo - Baroque baths were built in1913, the swimming pool in 1927. The open - air sections with their pleasantly warm waters are equally popular in winter. Gay cruising area is on the roof "nude, only for men" place during the summer and during the all year in the showers only for men.
